  This project was inspired by the notion of the 'archetype' and the power of image and advertisement to create stereotypes and to form the collective conscience. So, in this dictionary, the definition of each word is the precise description of its corresponding photo found on the internet. Each photo was selected by the following process: First searching each word in the three most popular stock-photography websites, then searching each word on google-images and finally selecting the corresponding photo that appears more often on the above websites and on google.

 

  An archetype can be:

  1. a statement, pattern of behavior, or prototype which other statements, patterns of behavior, and objects copy or emulate;

  2. a Platonic philosophical idea referring to pure forms which embody the fundamental characteristics of a thing;

  3. a collectively-inherited unconscious idea, pattern of thought, image, etc., that is universally present in individual psyches, as in Jungian psychology

 

 Stock photography refers to the supply of photographs, which are often licensed for specific uses such as magazine publishing, advertisement or pamphlet-making.Some online photo websites have created unique software to search for fitting stock photos, for example searching for complicated keyword combinations, color, shapes, and "moods". Other search engines may seek to quantify the best photos by looking for elements as diverse as "bright lights," "evidence of emotional connections between people," and the tilt of faces.

nurse noun  an african-american woman with black hair arranged into a tress wearing a blue shirt and a stethoscope around her neck with her arms crossed under her chest smiling

 

road noun a strip of grey asphalt with a white dashed line painted in the middle of it surrounded by fields with green grass under a blue sky with a few clouds
